Greenbrier Update

March 4, 2021

Hello RoseWood Village at Greenbrier Friends and Families,

At RoseWood Village, the health, wellness and safety of our resident and team members are our primary focus. We are happy to report that our COVID-19 vaccination clinic was today and this will complete the vaccination process for those who received their first vaccination on February 11th. Although we are excited about reopening, we must move slowly and cautiously through the reopening phases to ensure everyone’s health and safety. In fact, post vaccinations, the Centers for Disease Control (CD) recommends that we continue to wear masks and avoid close contact with others to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus because there is currently no information about whether or not the vaccine prevents the spread of the virus to other people. At this time, we continue to urge residents to continue to wear masks, practice good hand hygiene and maintain a social distance from others.

We are pleased to share that we have initiated Phase 1 of our reopening plan which affects our activity and dining programs. Our Activity department has initiated resident group activities which include up to 10 residents, socially distanced, at a time. Residents will begin eating lunch in the dining room 1-2 times per week on a rotating basis. Family visits are still limited to virtual or scheduled library visits and should continue being scheduled at least 24 hours in advance with our concierge.

We are encouraged by the CDC and VDH to remain in each “Phase” of reopening a minimum of 2 weeks before advancing to the next Phase. We anticipate being able to move forward with Phase 2 starting March 8th  for our activity department and will open the dining room to 2 meals, breakfast and lunch starting March 15th.  We are also looking forward to resuming our salon services on March 16th.

Your patience and support throughout this journey is so appreciated. Please reach out with any questions that you have.

Warm Regards,

Christine Wright

Greenbrier Update

February 15, 2021

Hello RoseWood Village Greenbrier Friends and Families,

We are pleased to share that our second COVID-19 vaccination clinic took place on Thursday, February 11, 2021 with our residents and team getting their second dose of the Pfizer vaccination. We are scheduled for our next clinic on March 4th 2021 to complete the vaccination process for those who received their first vaccination today.

Although we are excited about moving forward with our reopening process, our approach will continue to be slow and cautiously. We currently do not know how long immunity lasts after vaccination. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) state that it could take up to 10-14 days after the second vaccination before immunity is present. Post-vaccination, the CDC asks that we continue to wear masks and avoid close contact with others to help prevent the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19, especially since there is no information regarding whether or not getting a COVID 19 vaccine will prevent you from spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 to other people.

As experts continue to learn more about the protection that the COVID-19 vaccine provides and share that information, we at Rosewood Village at Greenbrier will continue to follow recommendations from the CDC to protect ourselves and others, including wearing a mask, social distancing, practicing good handwashing and limiting visitors as this time.  At this time, we will continue to schedule both virtual and library visits. Please contact our concierge to schedule a visit with your loved one.

Once there is more data to reflect what the effects of the vaccine are, we anticipate seeing additional guidance regarding this from the CDC and Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and will then have more data to ensure that our reopening process is as safe as possible. We are currently reviewing what restrictions can be lifted here at Greenbrier, specifically around activities and dining and will be sending out communication to let you know what the plan is soon.

Your patience and support throughout this journey are so appreciated. Please reach out with any questions that you have.

Warm Regards,

Christine Wright

Hollymead Update

January 27, 2021

Dear Family Members,

We are pleased to report that all resident and team member test results from yesterday’s round of testing are negative. Our next test date is next Tuesday, February 2nd. If we receive negative test results, we will be able to open things up a bit with allowing more activities and dining for lunch in the dining room.  The next vaccine clinic is February 11th from 10 to 4pm.

We will be continuing to follow these guidelines:

What we are doing for our residents

  • Socially distancing six feet apart during resident engagement
  • In-room dining
  • Providing masks for residents
  • Multiple daily temperature and pulse oximetry checks for all residents
  • Allowing only essential individuals to enter the community, those providing essential and compassionate care for our residents. This protocol remains in place until we have had 14 days of no COVID positive cases.
  • Scheduling FaceTime/Zoom/Skype sessions for residents and their families

What we are doing for team members

  • Allowing only essential individuals to enter the community, those providing essential and compassionate care for our residents. This protocol remains in place until we have had 14 days of no COVID positive cases.
  • Frequent disinfecting of the commonly touched environmental surfaces to decrease environmental contamination.
  • All team members wear masks and gloves while in resident areas of the community.
  • Team members complete a screening questionnaire and have temperatures taken daily upon entering the community.
  • Strict adherence to CDC hand washing and hand sanitizer guidelines.

The steps outlined above will stay in place until the Virginia Department of Health and the local health department lift restrictions. We are continually adjusting policies and practices as set by state and federal officials.  Please reach out to me If you have any questions.  On behalf of the RoseWood Village team, we appreciate all your support during this time.

Best regards,

Hollymead Update

January 26, 2021

Dear Family Members,

We are testing all residents and staff who have not had a positive test today.

If our community can go through the next two rounds of testing (today and February 2nd) without any new positive cases, we will begin the process of reopening which will loosen restrictions currently in place for activity and dining programs.

Unfortunately, we have sad news today.  While we cannot confirm the specific cause of death due to other active medical conditions, two of our residents, who previously tested positive have passed away.

We will be continuing to follow these guidelines:

What we are doing for our residents

  • Socially distancing six feet apart during the resident engagement
  • In-room dining
  • Providing masks for residents
  • Multiple daily temperature and pulse oximetry checks for all residents
  • Allowing only essential individuals to enter the community, those providing essential and compassionate care for our residents. This protocol remains in place until we have had 14 days of no COVID positive cases.
  • Scheduling FaceTime/Zoom/Skype sessions for residents and their families

Greenbrier Update

January 22, 2021

Hello Friends and Family,

RoseWood Village at Greenbrier is excited to announce we successfully completed our first COVID-19 vaccination Clinic on January 21st, 2021. Our second clinic will take place on February 11th 2021 and we will be sending out consent forms for that clinic soon. Please return these forms as soon as possible.   We would like to extend a special “thank you” to our team members, who ensured our clinic was such a great success. We would not have had such a seamless process without their support.

Our residents that received the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine have tolerated it well and we have not had anyone with adverse effects at this time. We will be monitoring your loved one for the next 48 hours and will be reaching out to you individually if we have any concerns.  Side effects have been reported to be short-lived and happen within the first few days of receiving the vaccine.

We will continue to keep our protective policies in place at this time, including restricting visitors,  encouraging social distancing, requiring team members and residents to wear masks and practicing good handwashing techniques.  You may continue to contact our concierge to schedule a time to visit with your loved one for a virtual visit or monitored in-house library visit.

We will keep you informed of any changes as we receive continued guidance from the local department of health and CDC.

Have an incredible weekend!

Respectfully,

Christine Wright

Hollymead Update

January 21, 2021

Dear Family Members,

Just wanted to do a quick update to let you know the COVID-19 vaccine clinic went off without a hitch today.  The CVS team vaccinated all but two residents and about half of the team members.

We brought the residents down by floor, six at a time.  After the vaccine was given, we kept residents downstairs (with masks and socially distanced) for 15 minutes to ensure everyone tolerated the vaccine.  Residents were so happy to see their friends and to get to visit for a little while.  I know it was a joy for them, it certainly was a joy for us to watch!  They enjoyed some refreshments while they chatted.

We will be continuing to follow these guidelines:

What we are doing for our residents

  • Socially distancing six feet apart during resident engagement

No staff members tested positive this week.   We anticipate retesting all residents and team members again next week on the 27th.

Unfortunately, we also have sad news.  While we cannot confirm the specific cause of death due to other active medical conditions, another one of our residents, who previously tested positive and was under the care of hospice, has passed away today.
